Strengthening Malaysia-Oman Safety Partnerships

In a significant step toward advancing workplace safety standards, the Professional Rope Access Community (PRAC) hosted two important visits from Oman this July. On 22 July 2025, a delegation from Oman engaged in in-depth discussions with PRAC on workplace safety, with a strong focus on working at height and rope access systems that could be continuously implemented in Oman.

The delegates expressed keen interest in adopting PRAC’s training methodologies, safety standards, and operational practices to enhance safety culture across key sectors such as construction, high-rise maintenance, and the oil & gas industry.

Highlights from the meeting included:

• Training of Selected Omani Citizens: Plans to send selected participants to PRAC for certified programs in Rope Access, Working Safely at Height, and PPE Inspection.
• Knowledge & Technology Transfer: Sharing of training modules, instructional materials, and assessment systems to help Oman develop a national training framework aligned with international standards.
• Future Establishment of PRAC Oman Chapter: Potential creation of a PRAC-endorsed training centre in Oman, led by PRAC-certified Omani trainers.

The visit also included a tour of PRAC’s state-of-the-art training facilities, where live demonstrations of rope access techniques, PPE inspections, and rescue simulations impressed the delegates, reaffirming PRAC’s position as a leader in safety training. Following this momentum, on 30 July 2025, PRAC welcomed representatives from the European Business Centre (EBC) Oman. This visit marked another milestone in strengthening the Malaysia-Oman safety partnership.

The EBC delegates toured PRAC’s facilities, observed ongoing training sessions, and discussed strategic cooperation in program alignment, skills development, and safety certification. Both visits reflect a growing commitment between Malaysia and Oman to collaborate on safety standards, capacity building, and knowledge exchange. With shared goals of empowering local workforces and improving safety practices, PRAC and its Omani partners are optimistic that these engagements will pave the way for long-term, impactful collaborations—potentially positioning Malaysia as a regional hub for rope access and work-at-height training.

Kemaman, 27 July 2025 – TVET MARA and the Professional Rope Access Community (PRAC) held a strategic meeting at KKTM Kemaman, initiating a collaboration to set up a world-class Working at Height (WAH) Training Centre. WAH training is vital across many sectors—especially oil and gas—where safety and technical competency are key.

The PRAC delegation, led by Director of Corporate Safety and Health Mr. Izzura, Executive Director Mr. Muhammad Zaim, and Managing Director Mr. Md Hasrizan Saadon (DJ), was welcomed by KKTM Kemaman Director Ts. Malib bin Ludin and Deputy Director Mr. Mohd Halimudin.

This collaboration supports the national TVET agenda by integrating rope access and height safety training into the curriculum at KKTM Kemaman, equipping graduates with globally recognised skills for high-risk industries. This partnership empowers graduates with globally recognized certification, boosting their employability and career prospects. TVET MARA continues to expand industry partnerships to develop globally competitive, high-skill talent.

Kuala Lumpur, 20 June 2025 – The Professional Rope Access Community (PRAC) was honoured to be officially invited by PETRONAS to speak at #SembangSantai Chapter 4, held virtually via Microsoft Teams.

Johor Bahru – A knowledge-sharing session jointly organised by Jotun Paint and the Professional Rope Access Community (PRAC) brought together participants from SA Property Management Sdn Bhd to strengthen awareness and skills in high-rise façade repainting and safe work at height.

The program served as a key platform to highlight the Working at Height Guideline issued by the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) Malaysia. Participants gained practical insights into hazard identification, risk assessment, proper fall protection equipment usage, and the importance of emergency rescue planning.

PRAC underscored the critical role of certified rope access technicians and the need for engaging trained personnel who meet industry competency standards. This emphasis aimed to help property managers, contractors, and safety teams reduce fall-related risks while ensuring regulatory compliance.
